Packing Peanuts!?

For my second project in quarter 2 i made a sword out of packing peanuts. it is my favorite project i have made all year and it is just so cool. ( i have to give all the credit to mrs. Comer for the idea) Great Idea!! it may be a green sword but i still find it cool, i thought if i ever get the chance i will give it to the statue of liberty, it will blend in just fine, i love my sword!!! (:

What is art??

art can be decided by a number of things. you could paint a life like picture and it will sell or you can make a picture of a dying horse, or other weird things like Picasso. they are both 100% different but they are both forms of art. you can also make sculptures, i like these the most, they are 3D and look really cool, even sculptures that are just lines and circle are still cool. Ones of humans thou are way cooler and might be my favorite. when i visited spain there were so many statues.. we saw probably more that 200 of them. but almost anything is are, if you make something and you like it then it is art. it doesn't matter what people think about your project as long asyou are happy with the end product!!

Project 1 Quarter 2!!

I made Sebastian the crabs home, i really thought that it turned out well!!! i worked on it everyday for 3 weeks. i had a really had time with putting it together. i started with more than 50 egg cartons and then i taped over all of it. after that i paper mache that process took more than a week and a half, it was my least favorite part of the process. when that was al done and over with i painted the whole thing white, then i took foil and wrapped the edges in it. i then added jewelry and called it done!!

Hemp!!

i made a lot of hemp thing over the last 3 weeks i made at least 10 bracelets and i make 4 necklaces. i gave them all out and never got them back. so i only had my one with a cross on it left. which is fine with me because it took me almost 5 hours because the strings are so small. i also attempted to teach 2 people how to make hemp jewelry Joe Trent and Jonah Waldron. Joe understood how to do it and Jonah didn't but he tried twice so i will give him credit. this was a very fun experience!! i would recommend it.

Profiler an artist!!

I decided to pick Pablo Picasso. When i went to spain i saw a lot of his painting a sculptures. i might add that it is some of the weirdest stuff i have ever seen. i guess some people would consider it art but i would never buy his art, it is just weird. he was born in Malaga, Spain and died in mougis, France.

The Elements of Design

I am Justin Orf and i am here today to discuss the elements of art with you... the first element is a line and when you put lines together you can make a shape.. there are tons of shapes like a circle or a square and sometimes a triangle. and if you take a line a step further you can make a form which is 3 dimensional. then you can color whatever you make with a line. then with the value you can make the shape or form lighter or darker....and if you are drawing something you cant give it texture but texture is just like a feeling. and there is sometimes space in your 3 dimensional object.
Then there are also the principals of design. Balance is the distribution of weight in your art work.
Contrast is the different values in colors. Then emphasis is used so that their work looks dominate
or so there is more focus in their piece. Then if you want your piece to move you have to give it movement.
If you want patterns in your piece then you will need repetition. Rhythm is visual movement. You have
to give you piece repetition in colors shapes or lines( so what i talked about at the beginning)
After you do all of this you must see if you piece has unity... if it looks cohesive.
